It is the things that we encounter every day, objects that are close to us, that seem familiar, that Ziva Drvaric draws on in her works. A simple nail, for example, hammered into the wall and not worthy of further attention—or is it? The artist sensitively expands on everyday objects. As we look round the next corner, the nail unexpectedly emerges from the wall, continues into the floor and possibly further. This transforms the mode, or the balance, with which we look at these simple moments. What arises is a sense of wonder, a feeling of amazement, the possibility of taking new turns and a quiet music of chance. For this exhibition, Ziva Drvaric has created an installation in which she emphasises the relationships between a number of her images and objects. Based on their interplay, she invites us to ever new interpretations; it is a game in which one quality in particular comes to the fore: the human ability to constantly begin new tales and to move between the multiple narratives that exist simultaneously.
